A passion for stucco.
Each piece is and-crafted into its unique shape.
I do not make copies of my sculptures as I have to break the mold apart after each piece is ready to undergo the finishing process. Sometimes I manage to retain a similar shape after casting.
Nevertheless, the stucco can never be identical in its imaitation of marble, its veining , nor can the finishing process produce two pieces of a kind, as I work entirely by hand, with no electric hand tools.
The process is time consuming and I find the work very addictive. Some sculptures may take up to 100 hours of constant work. After the final finishing touches, a sculpture is left to cure and dry for a month. Then it undergoes the oiling and polishing process.
Stucco marble is a very hard and enduring material as long as it is not left in a wet or very damp environment, just like a wood sculpture.
It is very easy to care for: regular polishing with high quality pure beeswax furniture polish. This wax should not contain silicone or any ingredients other than beeswax and natural turpentine.
